Jubilee Fund investors helped maintain affordable housing in Winnipeg’s West End.
In partnership with Spence Neighbourhood Association (SNA) and the University of Winnipeg, Jubilee Fund investors made financing available for two houses that were moved and renovated to provide much needed housing in the community.
The two houses were located on Langside Street where the University of Winnipeg Environmental Sciences Building and Student Housing Complex is now located. The University of Winnipeg gave the two houses to the Spence Neighbourhood Association. The two homes were in excellent condition, one was built less than five years ago, while the other had extensive renovations done two years ago.
In 2007, with help from Jubilee Fund investors, the houses were lifted from their foundation and moved to Furby Street and Balmoral Street, where they received further renovations. This project helped improve the community and created more housing opportunities for families.
