Panda Bear Daycare Co-op

The Jubilee Fund facilitated financing to help cover renovation costs for Panda Bear Co-operative Daycare, a parent owned and community based child daycare service in East St. Boniface.

The daycare had experienced rising expenses over the past few years while revenues remained fixed. This necessitated the need to relocate the daycare to accommodate more children and involved substantial renovation costs. The rationale for the project was based on the high demand for childcare in St. Boniface, especially for infant care. Infant care is not adequately provided in the city and most parents currently have to leave their infants and toddlers in home care and their pre-scholars in child care centres because most centres do not offer spaces for children under age two.

Seventy-six percent of parents accessing this service are low-income families who need quality child care facilities that can accommodate the variety of workers represented (including shift workers, part time workers and parents with very young children).

Panda Bear DaycareThe Centre provides before and after school programs, weekend and evening childcare, wheelchair accessibility, special needs education and care. It also acts as parent-child resource Centre. This centre provides bilingual (French/English) infant care.
