Diversity Food Services, a social enterprise partnership between SEED Winnipeg Inc. and the University of Winnipeg Development Corporation, required start – up capital to create a food services company that provides healthy food choices for staff and students at the University while providing meaningful employment and ownership opportunities for the employees.

The Jubilee Fund assisted workers at a furniture plant destined to close with working capital to purchase the business and form a co-operative to employ themselves.

A self-starting entrepreneur and certified mould-removal expert required a loan for start-up costs, tools and special equipment.

Jani King Franchise

Self- employment was the key for Jean to engage in the Winnipeg workforce and overcome the barriers of language and working in a new country. Manitoba Green Retrofit provides training and employment while offering energy efficiency retrofits and residential renovations in low income neigbourhoods.

Mondragon Worker Cooperative Ltd.

Workers at a popular downtown coffee house and book store needed extra financing to purchase their business from the previous owner and form a worker cooperative.

Neechi Commons Co-operative

After receiving assistance from the Jubilee Fund Neechi Foods Co-op Ltd. has taken a big step towards helping to transform Main Street north of the CPR underpass with the purchase of property on Main Street where they built a community business complex to house an expanded Neechi Foods and other community organizations and businesses.

New Earth Bakery

This project received support from the Jubilee Fund in 2001.

Northern Star Worker Co-op

The Jubilee Fund helped with financing working capital, product development and testing and productivity enhancement to streamline the operations of this Aboriginal women's co-op.

Organic Planet

The Jubilee Fund provided financing to support the financig of this Wolseley based business.

Organic Planet Worker Co-op

After the organic food store in Wolseley closed down, five workers came to the Jubilee Fund for financing to reopen the bakery, save local jobs and continue to provide organic choices for neighbourhood residents.

Peg City Car Co-op

Bike, Walk, Bus, and Sometimes Drive, the Peg City Car Co-op worked with the Jubilee Fund to raise start – up capital to operate the coop and purchase a car to be used in their car share program.

Pollock's Hardware Co-op Ltd.

The owners of Pollock Hardware planned to retire so they put the business up for sale. After quite a while on the market there was no serious interest in buying and operating this North End institution. Sacco & Vanzetti's Grocery and Deli (Mondragon 2009)

A popular restaurant in the Exchange District, Mondragon Worker Cooperative launched Sacco & Vanzetti’s, a fully functioning organic grocery store and delicatessen. The grocery and deli is located within the Mondragon Bookstore and Coffeehouse and provides healthy, affordable, organic, groceries and deli products to Winnipeg’s downtown Exchange District and surrounding core area.

Shabe Sheko Narso

A popular folk singer from Ethiopia received a loan to produce a Oromo music CD.

Tall Grass Prairie Bread Company

With assistance from the Jubilee Fund, Tall Grass enlarged its existing bakery in Wolseley to allow for more production space, larger ovens and a larger sales area.

West Broadway Development Corporation (WBDC)

The Jubilee Fund provided the security for the second mortgage for the WBDC to purchase and renovate a building at 640 Broadway for their new offices.
